What is Tuckerman Inferno? Tuckerman Inferno – Where to Stay
It is an amazing race in the White Mountains of New Hampshire where racers from all over the country come to participate in a fundraising Pentathlon. Tuckerman Inferno Pentathlon started in 2000 as the annual fundraiser for the Friends of Tuckerman Ravine and is one of the most challenging adventure races in the country!
Individuals and relay teams of two or five people compete and cover a 36 mile course that includes:
An 8.3 mile run, up and down hill
Kayaking 6 miles down the Saco River
Biking 18 + back over to Pinkham Notch
Hiking 3 miles+ up into Tuckerman Ravine
Ski down 1 + miles of the Ravine
Now you understand why its call Inferno! This really is a wonderful event and helps fund all the folks who take care of our beloved Mount Washington.
Friends of Tuckerman Ravine is a private, not-for-profit organization that is focused on the preservation of the unique alpine and sub-alpine eastern slopes of the Mount Washington area. They also work with the US Forest Service to help sustain the natural uses of the Mountain.
So as you can see…Snowvillage Inn would like to keep them around. As they help keep our majestic view unchanged and unforgettable. If you would like more information about Friend’s of Tuckerman Ravine or if you like to donate, please click the link.
